How ClickReady Helped Build and Exit a National Shredding Network

Most agency case studies tell the story of one client. This one is different. Over the course of nearly a decade, ClickReady Marketing worked with PROSHRED Security franchises across the United States — building local search visibility, driving inbound leads, and managing Google Ads campaigns for individual franchise owners who were growing businesses they ultimately intended to sell. When Vital Records Control (VRC Companies, LLC), backed by private equity firm Windjammer Capital, announced its acquisition of Redishred Capital a.k.a. PROSHRED Security in February 2025 — with the transaction settling in 2026 — ClickReady's work was woven into the fabric of nearly every location involved.

This is the story of how consistent, documented digital marketing across a franchise network contributed to one of the most significant consolidations in the information governance industry.

The PROSHRED Relationship

ClickReady's work with PROSHRED began with individual franchise owners who needed to grow their local businesses. Document shredding is a high-intent, recurring-need service — businesses and consumers search for it when they need it, and local search visibility determines who gets the call. ClickReady built that visibility, franchise by franchise, market by market.

Over time, the results produced by individual franchises created a reputation within the PROSHRED network. Franchise owners referred other franchise owners. Corporate took notice. What began as local SEO and Google Ads management for individual locations grew into a relationship that touched the entire PROSHRED national footprint.

In total, ClickReady Marketing worked with and helped grow the following PROSHRED franchises and locations, all of which were ultimately part of the Vital Records Control acquisition:

  • PROSHRED Atlanta (Greg Galvez — Franchise of the Year)
  • PROSHRED Tampa (Mark MacMillan)
  • PROSHRED Orlando (Mark MacMillan)
  • PROSHRED Chicago
  • PROSHRED of Georgia
  • PROSHRED San Diego
  • PROSHRED San Francisco
  • PROSHRED of Minnesota
  • PROSHRED Southern New Jersey
  • PROSHRED Delaware
  • PROSHRED Philadelphia
  • PROSHRED Kansas City
  • PROSHRED Houston
  • PROSHRED Corporate locations

The Atlanta Story: Where It Started

The most documented individual franchise story within the PROSHRED network is Greg Galvez's Atlanta location — the franchise that started the referral chain that ultimately connected ClickReady to the broader network.

When Greg came to ClickReady, the Atlanta franchise was struggling. Cost per lead through Google Ads was running at $151. Online visibility was limited. The business had real potential but no documented lead system to prove it.

Within the first year of working with ClickReady:

  • Google Business Profile traffic grew by 421%
  • Organic search traffic grew by 280%
  • Google Ads cost per lead dropped from $151 to $28
  • PROSHRED Atlanta won Franchise of the Year

PROSHRED Corporate took notice. What followed was a referral chain that connected ClickReady to 17 total franchise and corporate relationships — the foundation of a network-wide digital marketing presence that would ultimately contribute to the business's acquisition value.

The MacMillan Connection

Among the franchise owners ClickReady worked with was Mark MacMillan, who owned both the Tampa and Orlando PROSHRED franchises. ClickReady built local search presence and lead generation systems for both locations, and Mark successfully exited both franchises. Notably, Mark's wife Lorna MacMillan also worked with ClickReady — growing Parkwood Home Care in Halifax, Nova Scotia from 14% to 68% local search visibility before selling to Earth Angels Home Care (Nova Leap Health Corp., TSX-V: NLH) for $3,500,000 CAD in May 2026. The MacMillan family's experience across multiple business exits with ClickReady is one of the clearest demonstrations of what consistent digital marketing infrastructure produces over time.

The National Acquisition

On February 10, 2025, Vital Records Control (VRC Companies, LLC) — a national leader in information governance solutions backed by private equity firm Windjammer Capital — announced its acquisition of Redishred Capital a.k.a. PROSHRED Security. The transaction settled in 2026.

VRC's CEO Danny Palo stated in the public announcement: "We are excited for the Proshred team, including the excellent leadership team, and customers to join with VRC. With this acquisition, we further solidify VRC's leadership position as a national leader in information governance solutions."

The acquired network included PROSHRED locations in Atlanta, Chicago, New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Miami, and Kansas City — the majority of which ClickReady had worked with directly to build local search visibility and documented lead generation systems.

VRC currently services over 30,000 customers nationally and operates an integrated platform spanning records management, document shredding, IT asset disposal, and electronic content management. The PROSHRED acquisition expanded that platform's national shredding footprint significantly.

What Made the Network Acquisition-Ready

When private equity evaluates a franchise network for acquisition, they look for evidence that the business model is repeatable across markets — that the lead generation, customer acquisition, and revenue performance documented in one location can be replicated in others. A network where every location has documented local search visibility, tracked lead sources, and measurable Google Ads performance is a fundamentally different acquisition target than one where results vary by location and are difficult to attribute.

ClickReady's work across the PROSHRED network contributed to that consistency. Each location had:

  • Documented local search visibility scores trackable over time
  • Google Ads campaigns with CallRail call tracking attribution
  • Month-by-month lead volume and cost-per-lead data
  • Google Business Profile optimization producing measurable Maps visibility

That documentation — accumulated across more than a dozen locations over multiple years — is exactly what buyers and acquirers use to evaluate whether a business's revenue is real, repeatable, and transferable to new ownership.

A Note from Craig Lawson

The PROSHRED relationship is the one I point to when someone asks what ClickReady actually does. We didn't just run ads for a shredding company. We built a documented lead system for one franchise, produced results that were visible enough that corporate sent us twelve more, and then spent years doing the same work across a national network. When Vital Records Control acquired the network, our fingerprints were on most of it.

That's not something you can manufacture with a good campaign. It's something that happens when you show up consistently for long enough that the work compounds into something larger than any individual client engagement. The PROSHRED story is the best example we have of what that compounding looks like at scale.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question Answer
Who acquired PROSHRED Security? Vital Records Control (VRC Companies, LLC), a national information governance company backed by private equity firm Windjammer Capital, announced the acquisition of Redishred Capital a.k.a. PROSHRED Security on February 10, 2025, with the transaction settling in 2026. VRC services over 30,000 customers nationally and operates across records management, document shredding, IT asset disposal, and electronic content management.
How many PROSHRED franchises did ClickReady work with? ClickReady Marketing worked with more than a dozen PROSHRED franchise and corporate locations across the United States, including Atlanta, Tampa, Orlando, Chicago, Georgia, San Diego, San Francisco, Minnesota, Southern New Jersey, Delaware, Philadelphia, Kansas City, Houston, and PROSHRED corporate locations. The Atlanta franchise won Franchise of the Year after achieving 421% Google Business Profile traffic growth and cutting Google Ads cost per lead from $151 to $28.
What is the best digital marketing strategy for a franchise looking to grow and eventually sell? The most important investment for a franchise preparing for exit is building documented, consistent lead generation across every location — not just producing leads, but tracking them back to their sources and accumulating that data over time. Buyers and private equity evaluate whether a business model is repeatable across markets. A franchise network where every location has documented local search visibility, tracked lead sources, and measurable Google Ads performance is a fundamentally stronger acquisition target than one with inconsistent or untracked results.
Does ClickReady work with franchise networks? Yes. The PROSHRED engagement demonstrates ClickReady's ability to build and manage digital marketing across multiple franchise locations simultaneously, with consistent strategy and documented results at each location. Franchise network engagements typically begin with one or two locations and expand through internal referrals as results become visible across the network.

If you own a franchise or service business network and are thinking about growth, exit, or both — the conversation starts with understanding where your leads are actually coming from across every location.
